Full Description: This four-hour advanced training course aims to equip law enforcement with the skills to identify and mitigate potential threats before they escalate into targeted violence. A central focus is distinguishing between "making" a threat, often an emotional outburst without immediate capability, and "posing" a threat, which involves observable planning, research, and resource acquisition. By analyzing past tragedies in Parkland and Aurora, the lesson identifies a seven-stage "Path to Violence" that begins with a grievance and ends in an attack. Successful prevention relies on an interdisciplinary approach, combining police action with mental health and social services. Success stories, such as foiled plots in 2018 and 2025, underscore that early intervention based on public reports of "leakage" or preparation can stop events before tragedy occurs
