Brief Description: 610 Hour Basic Police Training Course

Full Description: Successful completion of the physical training requirements is necessary for graduation the same as firearms qualification and passing weekly exams.

Directions to Location: CALETA Directions:

Traveling I-30 Westbound: Take the Haskell 114 Exit. Continue straight off the exit, driving across Hwy 67 onto the service road. The campus building will be located on your right.

Traveling I-30 Eastbound: Take the Haskell 114 Exit. At the stop sign take a left onto Hwy 67. You will come to another stop sign making you stop for the traffic exiting from I-30 westbound. At that stop sign turn left onto the service road. Do not get back on I-30 as this area is under construction and can be confusing to map out. The campus building will be located on your right.

You will park in designated area in back of building.

Resources Required: Students should bring the following supplies:

• Notebook for note taking
• Pencils, Pens, and Highlighters
• Individual Bottle of Hand Sanitizer to be kept on your desk in the classroom daily.
• Copy of your Departmental Use of Force Policy (Printed in paper form for your reference during class)
• Service Handgun
• Duty belt, a sturdy under belt w/ keepers, and holster; leather or nylon. (No cross draw, drop leg or shoulder holsters. Holsters with the removable plug in the bottom, please remove prior to the academy.)
• 3 magazines, handcuffs and case, magazine pouch, etc.
• Body Armor (Bullet Proof Vest) Need to arrive the first day of class being Monday wearing it under your shirt. Do not arrive Day 0 (Sunday) wearing it. *Academy issued shirts will be worn OVER the vest daily unless advised further. (First few days will be wearing your personal polo style shirts until your academy shirts arrive.)
• Hearing Protection
• Eye Protection (for range)
• Flashlight
• Baton and holder (Straight or Expandable)
• Rain and/or Cold Weather Gear
• Sunscreen
• Bug Repellant
• Quality Running Shoes
• Gym clothes (appropriate black shorts or sweatpants AND a fluorescent/safety yellow t-shirt or sweatshirt) No shirts with the sleeves cut out, no crop tops, no tank tops or wearing just a sports bra. If you wear black leggings you must wear black appropriate shorts over them, this goes for both males and females. Females are recommended to wear a Sports Bra. *PT is daily so you may want to have a few sets as hygiene is a must and required.
• Department issued complete uniform for class photograph.
• 16 oz to 1-liter plastic container for drinking water
• Boots (Military/ Combat style, all black, lace-up, and able to be shined DAILY)
• Mouthguard is recommended (Defensive Tactics)
• Athletic Cup is recommended (Defensive Tactics and Traffic Stop Simunition Practical)
• Clothing:  At least three pairs of khaki-colored pants that meet and/or are comparable to the following brands/styles:
1.  511 Tactical TDU pants, Tactile, Twill, or Ripstop styles are acceptable
2.  Propper F5220
3.  Tru Spec BDU
4. First Tactical
*The pants should be the appropriate length to be worn outside the boot and will not be worn bloused at the top of the boots.

Reporting Instructions: Basic Law Enforcement Training Class - Central ALETA

Students will need their LE credentials and ID for access to Camp Robinson.
They will report to 13600 I-30 @ Saline County Career Technical Campus Benton, AR.
They will need to park in the parking spaces located behind the academy buildings.
They are to stay with their vehicle until they have been checked in by an Instructor.
They are to arrive to the Academy by 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Day 0.
They need to be dressed class in their tactical pants, a collared shirt, black military style boots that can be shined and nothing else. No vest, no duty belt, no weapon, no badges, or anything else other than stated above.
They should have at least a 16-ounce to 1-liter CLEAR PLASTIC container for drinking water; filled and ready to use.
Classroom Orientation will start promptly at 1:00 p.m.

Students attending the Central Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy should provide copies of certificates of completion in the IS-700(NIMS) an Introduction, ICS-100 Incident Command System an Introduction, AND NHI Traffic Incident Management (TIMS) prior to or upon approval at Central-ALETA.

All federal, state, territorial, local, tribal, private sector and non-governmental personnel at the entry level, first line supervisor level, middle management level and command and general staff level of emergency management operations must complete the base line level training for certification.
Acceptable Certificates include:

Is-700 National Incident Management Systems (NIMS)
(or the IS-700.a Introduction)
AND
ICS-100 Incident Command System (or its equivalent of IS-100.b or IS-100.LEb) is acceptable for standards.

IS-100.LEb: Introduction to Incident Command System, for Law Enforcement. This course introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for lighter level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of ICS. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). This course uses the same objectives and content as other ICS courses with law enforcement examples and exercises.

National Highway Institute: National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training – Web Based. The National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training was created by responders for responders. This course provides first responders a shared understanding of the requirements for safe, quick clearance of traffic incident scenes; prompt, reliable and open communication; and motorist and responder safeguards. First responders learn how to operate more efficiently and collectively. This training covers many TIM recommended procedures and techniques, including: TIM Fundamentals and Terminology, Notification and Scene Size-Up, Safe Vehicle Positioning, Scene Safety, Command Responsibilities, Traffic Management, Special Circumstances, Clearance and Termination, Telecommunicators.

O.C. SPRAY INFORMATION:

Basic Students are REQUIRED to participate in OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) Pepper Spray training.

The ALETA OC Pepper Spray course requires the student to be exposed to OC Pepper Spray and its effects in a simulated confrontational situation. After the student is exposed, they will be required to carry out suspect control and officer survival actions. The primary focus of the course is officer survival training and conditioning; therefore, previous exposure to OC Pepper Spray will not be recognized as an approved excuse for exemption from exposure training.

*THE ONLY APPROVED EXEMPTION TO EXPOSURE TRAINING WILL BE A DOCUMENTED MEDICAL EXCUSE SIGNED BY THE EXAMINING PHYSICIAN AND THE STUDENT’S DEPARTMENTAL SUPERVISOR.
